Other Member Benefits

DFJCA Pastoral Committee

The Pastoral Committee helps our members when there is a death in the family. We understand that this is a time when support, comfort and guidance are needed, and DFJCA is prepared to help in the following ways:

  1. We will inform our members via E-mail that a death has taken place, and we will provide information about the funeral and Shiva.
  2. We will be available to support the mourners by guiding and helping them with decisions that need to be made. We have available a list of rabbis, mortuaries, cemeteries and caterers.
  3. We have members who, upon request, will attend and conduct (if available) a Minyan Service in the Shiva house. Prayer books for the service are available on request.
  4. We will provide, as available, assistance with any other needs on a case-by-case basis.

Need a Ride to Services?

Someone in your area may be able to drive you to the meeting and take you back home. Please contact us and we will put you in touch with someone who lives near you, and you may make arrangements directly with them. However, it is not guaranteed that a ride will always be available.
